Summer Saison // Something With Staff
It may be the end of summer, but we’ve got a delicious new ‘Summer Saison’ brew on the tap in the brewery!
This is the FIRST ‘Something with Staff’ beer to hit the Endeavour Tap Rooms!
We are out of Summer, but this was brewed on the second last day of February so we could try and prolong the season (and it feels like it’s helped – have you seen the weather lately?!).
Saison is typically a pale ale that is highly carbonated, fruity & spicy.
Check out the brewing process below with tasting notes from the brewer himself.
This new beer feels like summer with the earthy fruit character that is so quintessential with this saison yeast.
A bit of colour and sweetness from the Vienna malt and a rounded flavour from the flaked wheat is really just all there to support and enhance the yeast character in this beer.
The Vienna offsets the slight spice and earthy flavour from the yeast, the wheat helps to also keep the yeast suspended and make the rocky white head on the beer.
The bitterness is slightly higher than normal on a Saison, but the high hop character pairs so well it is not noticeable over the yeast and helps create a cleaner finish, even though the typical yeasty finish is still pronounced.
